The Weeknd lost his voice a few songs into the second of his two sold-out performances at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium on Saturday night
The Weeknd was performing "Can't Feel My Face" when he suddenly lost voice, halted, and then emerged from the stage to inform the audience.
I'm going to see to it that everyone is okay, that you all get your money back, and that I perform a show for you guys shortly.
But rather than tweeting or Instagramming it, I wanted to publicly apologise.
I wanted you to be aware that I am unable to fulfil my promise to you. I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry.
You know how much this kills me, the star said as he stood on stage amid applause from the audience.
He posted on Twitter shortly after leaving the stage, saying, My voice went out during the first song and I'm distraught.
When I felt it depart, my heart sank. He then vowed once more to return with a new time.
The previous night's performance by the artist was well-received; according to Billboard, "The Weeknd is the singer, director, creator, composer, and star of his own movie."
